Government & Not-for-profit

Challenging times for public sector organisations demands
greater consultation with the people who use them and strong evidence-based social policy development and evaluation.

Adopting consultative approaches, being more responsive and proving that policies are based on more than trends and whims consumes many public sector organisations.

Local and federal governments currently face a challenge in re-engaging with communities.

Colmar Brunton recognised the special needs of government and not-for-profit organisations and in 1998, Colmar Brunton Social Research established its Canberra office, creating the largest and most successful independent social research unit in Australasia.

Colmar Brunton Social Research, while operating as a separate entity, is part of the Colmar Brunton group of companies and is dedicated to the needs of government and not-for-profit organisations. Colmar Brunton Social Research does not work for profit making organisations.

Public sector research covers a broad range of issues and requires an in-depth understanding of government policies and organisations. Finding the right solution requires an innovative and creative approach to research, supported by a full range of research methodologies. We provide a collaborative approach to not-for-profit and government sector organisations that revolves around:

  • Problem-solving;
  • Flexibility and adaptability and
  • Relevant experience and a deep understanding of social issues

Currently, Colmar Brunton Social Research is introducing action research into pilot projects within the Department of Family and Community Services' (FaCS) Personal Support Programme.

These pilots are innovative programmes aimed at assisting indigenous people with many non-vocational barriers to participate in Australia's social and economic life. The projects are focusing on areas that are proving a challenge. It is the aim of this action research project to facilitate attempts to find new ways to more successfully introduce indigenous Personal Support Programme participants into community life, education, employment or training.
